NEW RECORD! (2025) • but you already know this, as you were just on the main Marshweed page, which is kind of all about this record ATM.
I guess something to say that hasn't been said on the other page would be that after the pandemic shut-down, I felt a difficulty in putting together a cohesive collection. At a certain point, I understood that there was not any cohesion to be had in the available mental landscape. That might assist the listening perspective for this record.
MARSHWEED/DESERT MAGIC Split Single (2023) • This is a split single between Desert Magic and Marshwah Ensemble. We've both been recording albums at the same time and thought it would be fun. Thematically, these two songs go nicely together. Enjoy!
MARSHWEED IN THE GARDEN (2018) • Songs about dirt, growing, growing up, seeds, a few mushy moments, some sadness.
The name "Marshweed" is my super-hero name that Lyman, my friend and musical conspirator of many many years in our first band, Leather Hyman, and then in its older sibling Listing Ship, gave me back when we were practically just born. I think we were 19 or 20. I always had the idea that Marshweed would save the crumbling world by planting things that no longer could easily grow, in places that may not be so hospitable to growing them, and then magically they would grow! I guess this is applicable to plants, and ideas, and other stuff, take it as you will.
MARSHWEED'S GREATEST HITS (2013)
These songs were an experiment in "on-the-road recording". I had gotten an "M-Box" interface, remember those? and was playing in a quartet that was backing the "Eels with Strings" worldwide tour around 2006 or so. When we would arrive in a town, I'd go right to the venue and find the most remote dressing room space and set up the microphone. Then I'd work on these recordings in the pre-soundcheck dead time. If there happened to be a piano in any of the backstage rooms, I'd sneak in with the laptop, make up a piano part on the fly, record it and get out before I encountered anyone. It was fun. (At the end of "Unplayable Card", you can hear when the tour manager entered the room mid-recording to see if anyone was in the shower. I loved the ambience of the hallway when he opened the door, so I left it in. The train in "I Can't Wait" would go right under my hotel room where we were staying in this remote European location. So I stuck the microphone out the window on this rainy afternoon and recorded it.) I really didn't know how to record anything at that time, which any audiophile can discern immediately, but whatever. I like the "audio diary" energy of the recordings, and I hope you enjoy it too.

MARSHWEED LIVE IN THE BERENICE CLOUD CHAMBER (2020 - unreleased)
We recorded this at the Berenice house in NE Los Angeles in Nov/Dec of 2020, and it is largely made up of live tracks from the studio album "Marshweed in the Garden." Tracks 7 and 8 are bonus live tracks from a Berenice Halloween house show performance in 2018.
Being that winter 2020 was at record-high COVID-19 infection rates in our city, the live studio portion of this record was recorded as socially-distanced-ly as we could, with each musician in a separate room of the house, communicating via headphones. These sessions were welcome activities in the sea of isolation brought by the shutdown.
